Dharma Bums are a four piece from Kidderminster in Worcestershire. Broadly speaking their music can be classified as ‘Roots’, drawing from a variety of sources, but predominantly from the branches of Rhythm & Blues, Soul, Reggae, Folk & Rock. Their set comprises of roughly 50% covers and 50% original material. They cover artists such as Sam Cooke, Johnny Cash, Howlin’ Wolf, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Little Walter & early Elvis Presley.
Dharma Bums were formed in late 2015, their debut EP; which was recorded in Stourport-on-Severn & mastered at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London; was released in July 2017. They are currently in the process of recording a full album, which they hope to release either later this year or early 2020.
Their first release was very much a laid back affair with an overriding acoustic blues flavour with touches of continental jazz and hints of folk. Their second release represents a definite evolution in their sound and is shaping up to be much more socially aware and heavily influenced by the times in which we live..
